A little bit of Texas in Berlin

I know that the following post might sound unbelievable - especially to my Texan friends and family, but I am totally excited to show you this:


It started with a pack of seeds that I couldn't resist to buy at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on my way home in January. I gave it to my mom as a souvenir and she planted them in a big pot on her balcony. We had no idea if it worked, cause it was kind of late and our climate is nothing like Texas, but eventually some seedlings came out ;-)

There was some stagnation in the growing process due to the weather, but last week there was the first hint of blue like in the picture above.
Yesterday, we found this:


I am so happy to have something from my second home in Texas here in my home town Berlin!!!

  2. That's just incredible!! Who would have thought? Here, in the NE, we have Lupins, a cousin to the bluebonnet. They grow 2 ft.+ tall!!
